iLs is being used with significant success in a number of educational environments (see Research page for results). Our new portable iPod-based system, the iLs Focus, has made implementation in a school setting more economical and more manageable. Below is an outline of some of the basics of an iLs school program.

Training

• iLs training for educators can be either the 4-day Professional Certification course or the 1-day Partner Certification course (which is also available as a distance training course). Please see the Training page for specifics.
• We recommend at least 2 individuals from each school be trained. Trainees need not be teachers; support staff, paraprofessionals or volunteers can monitor a listening session.

Program Structure

• Program sessions are 1 hour in length, 3-5 times per week
• One complete program is 30 sessions, so the full program length is 10-12 weeks
• The number of students in a program depends upon the number of iLs units purchased, space, staffing, and time within the school schedule.

Equipment

The iLS Focus is an iPod-based system that can be used either in a home or professional environment. The Focus training is done via distance training, a written test must be completed and faxed to iLs prior to receiving the equipment.
