iLs equipment takes sound therapy to a new level of efficacy by combining advanced psychoacoustics with visual and balance activities that are performed while listening. The result is a patent-pending multi-sensory program available to clinicians, educators and non-professionals.

Each iLs system includes an audio component, visual/balance integration equipment and guidebook.

Training Requirements per System

• iLs Pro is an iPod-based professional system which requires completion of the 4-day Professional Certification course.
• iLs Focus Series (the Total Focus, Focus 200 and Focus 100) consists of iPod-based systems for professionals which can be used in the home as well as clinic and school. Clinicians and educators are required to complete the one-day Practitioner Certification course (or the distance training course) before using the Focus Series equipment. Parents interested in using the Focus at home may contact iLs directly (tel: 303-741-4544) to locate an iLs-trained clinician who will provide them with equipment and oversee their program.
• iLs Kick Start is a home system sold by therapists to their clients as a follow-up to clinic programs. It is delivered via an Apple Nano, includes a User Manual and, like all iLs systems, includes equipment for balance and visual tracking activities.
• iLs Expressive Language Program is designed to help children and adults with various aspects of auditory processing. The program involves listening to one’s own voice through headphones while doing exercises that develop expressive language abilities (scroll down to see photos). Expressive training is incorporated into the latter part of iLs programs. Both the 1-day and the 4-day Certification courses cover the Expressive Program.

iLs Pro

The Pro is a portable air/bone conduction system delivered via 120 GB iPod.  Clinicians draw from the entire library of iLs processed music to create customized protocols for their clients.  The Professional Certification course is required to purchase the Pro, as the system requires training in protocol development.

iLs Focus Series

The Focus Series consists of three separate products – the Total Focus, Focus 200 and Focus 100 -  which have clinic-level efficacy but are designed for home as well as professional use.  The Focus Series allows clinicians and educators to select specific iLs programs to be loaded onto the iPod for their clients’ needs.   The four programs offered are:

1. Sensory Motor: 60-session program
2. Concentration & Attention: 40-session program
3. Reading/Auditory Processing: 40-session program
4. Optimal Performance for Teens & Adults: 48 session program

All Focus systems are sold complete with the following:

• iLs Programs loaded onto an Apple iPod
• Sennheiser headphones custom-fitted with bone conduction capability
• iLs mini-amp with adjustable air and bone conduction volume
• Frequency filtration from 0-4KHz; dynamically controlled gating
• Integration Kit and Playbook for visual motor and balance activities

The difference between the Total Focus, Focus 200 and Focus 100 is the number of programs they hold.
The Total Focus comes with all four programs listed above: Sensory Motor, Concentration & Attention, Reading/Auditory Processing and Optimal Performance.  The Focus 200 includes a choice of two programs out of the four, while the Focus 100 comes with one program.

iLs Kick Start

The Kick Start is designed for home use as a follow-up, or supplement, to clinic programs.

• 12-week program which can be shortened or lengthened per user needs
• progresses gradually through the sensory motor, speech/language, and integration bandwidths
• 4GB Nano with armband
• Sennheiser EH-350 air conduction headphones
• Integration Kit for visual motor and balance activities while listening; Playbook user guide includes graphics and descriptions to help users do the movement activities that complement the listening component
• frequency filtration progression is gradual and safe; music processing methods are identical to those of iLs professional systems

Integration Kit & Playbook: Each iLs system includes equipment for the balance and visual program which is done simultaneous to listening, as well as a Playbook that guides the user through the activities.

These enhance the efficacy of the listening component, and in the case of the Kick Start provide important vestibular stimulation which is not provided by the headsets. (All iLs systems except the Kick Start have bone conduction, an effective vestibular stimulator, built into the headsets. The balance activities help compensate for the lack of bone conduction in the Kick Start, improving results significantly. The Integration Kit and Playbook are sold only in conjunction with iLs listening systems, and are not available separately.

iLs Expressive Language Program

The Expressive Language Program is designed to help children and adults improve various auditory processing skills such as phonemic awareness, auditory memory, auditory figure gound and dichotic listening. The equipment is purchased separately from the iLs listening systems listed above. Expressive Language equipment training is included in both the 1-day Practitioner Certification and 4-day Professional courses.

The 10 expressive exercises in the program are played from an Apple Nano. The volume for both the listener and the monitor (teacher or therapist) is controlled through an iLs amplifier and headphone system. The activities are presented in gradually increasing levels of difficulty, and a worksheet allows one to track performance and focus in on specific areas that need improvement.
